The post-genome era is coming since the sequence of the human genome has been completed. In the post-genome era, the new concepts and new methods have been developed rapidly in biological and medical fields. There are many active and cutting-edge research fields, such as genomic analysis, nanobioscience, bioinformatics, etc., which have greatly promoted the researches of post-genome field. The interdisciplinary collaborations between physicists, chemists, biologists, engineers, mathematicians, and the scientists from the other disciplines are greatly required in developing new methods and technologies. The main purpose of The International Forum on Post-Genome Technologies is to increase the high-level academic exchanges in state-of-art development of various new technologies in functional genomics, RNA regulations, proteomics, genetic diversity, and the various related applications including new therapy, personal medicine and drug-evidence discovery.

　IFPT'1 was held in Xi'an in 2002, IFPT'2 in Nanjing in 2004, IFPT'3 in Guilin in 2005, and IFPT'4 in Hangzhou in 2006, IFPT'5 in Suzhou in 2007,all of which have achieved great successes in efficient presentations, academic exchanges, and friendships of scientists from different countries.IFPT'5 invited about 30 speakers for lectures. The topics covered many active aspects in post-genome field, e.g. genetic analysis (SNP typing, gene expression profiling, etc.), bioinformatics and computational biology, proteome, single cell analysis, microarray technology, biosensors and microfluidics, biomolecular functions, and nanobiology.

　It is notalbe that 167 papers from the proceeding of IFPT'5 have been embodied by ISTP ( Index to Scientific & Technical Proceedings) and the proceeding of IFPT'5 has also been published in due form.

　The upcoming 6th International Forum on Post-genome Technologies will be hold in the capital of China--Beijing and the exact date of the forum is not determined yet.Beijing is famous for its graceful landscape and full-bodied civilization atmosphere. It is our hope that all the participants can enhance the academic exchanges around the beautiful sight-seeing in Beijing.
